Welcome to the website of North Cowton Parish Council

The Parish of North Cowton is located within close proximity to Richmond, Northallerton and Darlington.

The Parish landscape is dominated by North Cowton village which is surrounded by open farm land. The layout of the village indicates that the settlement dates back to the medieval period with many of the cottages within the core of the village thought to be on similar sites and plots.

At the heart of the village is the Village Hall which provides a venue for local groups such as the Women’s Institute, Community Choir and Keep-Fit.  It is also used by the school for concerts, religious services, after school clubs and PE lessons.

There is also a playing field with football pitch, tennis court and children’s play area with picnic benches.

The parish contains a thriving and popular primary school that serves both North & South Cowton and the surrounding area.  This is located across two sites, one of which is the original building built in 1878.

The Herdsman Public House provides a social venue for both local residents and those from further afield, with its excellent cuisine.

The petrol station at the end of the village provides fuel and includes a small convenience store.
